'Tethered' means there is a cable permanently attached to the charging box at one end.

'Untethered' means that a cable plugs into your car at one end and the box at the other. So you'll be able to source your own cable to charge your EV. For example, the one that was delivered with your EV.

Your cable will need to be long enough to comfortably reach your EV from your chargepoint. Depending on the brand you chose, the cables of our tethered EV chargers are between 5 and 8 metres long. Generally, this is enough for most houses where the box is on the outside of the house and the car is parked on a driveway.

Our charger installations start from £899 for an Ohme ePod charger including Standard installation, up to £1,149 for a Hypervolt Home 3 Pro. Check out all charger costs here.

Depending on meter location and if there is more than 10m of distance between your electricity meter and the EV charger, your installation will cost slightly more. This additional cost will show as an installation cost on your quote, as £99 for a Standard Plus installation, or £189 for an Enhanced installation - check the FAQ below to find out if this will apply to your installation.

We'll be able to let you know what package you require once you complete the application form.

If you require a more complex installation for a reason aside from the length of cable required, we may boost you to a Standard Plus or Enhanced installation. We'll be able to let you know after your remote survey if this is the case.

A standard installation is included in the price of your charger. But if the installation is more complex and our engineers will need to spend more time at your home, it'll cost a bit more.

We can only install a charger if you have private parking (like in a driveway or garage, with no public lands between your house and the charger). If the cable will need to cross public lands, we recommend that you look at a solution like Kerbo Charge.
